WOODBURN-HALL DEPARTS AFTER DECADE IN BLUE AND WHITE

Halifax Panthers can confirm that James Woodburn-Hall has departed the club following the conclusion of the 2025 Betfred Championship season. The 30 year old Jamaican International will leave Halifax after 10 seasons at The Shay.

After starting his career as a teenager with hometown club London Broncos, Woodburn-Hall headed North to Leeds where he would go on to become a University international alongside his studies. This caught the attention of former reserves coach Martin Gonzalez who recruited Woodburn-Hall as one that could develop into a future first teamer.

A talented and skilful runner with strength and elusive speed, he quickly established himself at the senior level after making his debut against Swinton Lions back in 2016. Starting out as a centre before moving to his preferred role of full back, although more than capable as a half back, he would go on to make 184 first team appearances in the famous blue and white, scoring 82 tries.

Woodburn-Hall was an integral part of the team that lifted the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup at Wembley in 2023. But what he will possibly be most remembered for will be his heroics in the 2019 Betfred Challenge Cup quarter final at Odsal. Coming off the bench, he scored the winning try against Bradford Bulls that took Fax to our first cup semi final for 31 years, and the first Championship club to achieve the feat since 2006.

Speaking after the announcement, Woodburn-Hall said: “I will be forever thankful for the opportunities and experience the club has given me. Halifax will always hold a special place in my heart, from the lads to the fans and especially Dave and Kay who have sponsored me from beginning. I’ve loved my time here.”

We’d like to thank James for his efforts in the blue and white and wish him all the very best for the future.
