Welcome Gadwin Springer
Springer, an explosive front-rower with plenty of Super League experience becomes Simon grix’s fourth new signing ahead of the Betfred championship 2021 campaign.
The French international is a powerful presence on-field and is renowned for never taking a backwards step once the whistle is blown.
Resolute in defence and imposing in attack, Springer brings plenty to the table on game day and at 27 years old is only just coming into his prime.
Springer was born in French Guiana before moving to Toulouse at an early age. He played his junior rugby for Toulouse and represented France at youth international level. He was then signed by Catalan Dragons before making his Super League début in 2014 as a substitute against St.Helens.
He was a member of Castleford’s squad which won the League Leaders Shield in 2017, making 21 appearances during the season.
The towering prop has played on both the world stage and has invaluable Super League experience with Catalans Dragons, Castleford Tigers and most recently the Wolfpack and is sure to become a fans favourite both on and off the field.
Head Coach Simon Grix was delighted to get the deal done,
“Gadwin brings us the point of difference we have been looking for. I spoke to Gadwin a while back to sort of register our interest should Toronto not work out, then obviously reaffirmed our interest after the announcement and here we are.”
“He is a big unit who dents the line, with a good offload on him too. He will be a player that will excite and get us on the front foot.”
“I am looking forward to seeing him do some damage in blue and white.”
New boy Springer is looking forward to pulling on the famous Blue & White and meeting the Fax faithful,
“I’m really looking forward to starting the pre season with the boys and meet everyone. It’s been a crazy year for all of us, but I can’t wait for a new chapter. Halifax have always been a tough team to play against, they all work hard for each other so I’m excited to be part of this team.”
“Can’t wait to meet all the fans.”
Football Director Ian Croad on the signing of Springer,
“Gadwin needs no introduction, he’s a huge, athletic, physical middle. He will be a crowd pleaser with his aggressive style of play. The squad is coming together nicely.”
