TWO YEAR DEAL SEALS FORSTER RETURN

Halifax Panthers are delighted to announce the signing of Ben Forster on a two year contract from Oldham RLFC. Forster joins the Panthers on a deal that will keep him at The Shay until the end of the 2027 Betfred Championship season.

It will be the 24 year olds second spell with the club, having first signed back in 2022. After departing the Panthers, Forster went on to make 81 first team appearances at Rochdale Hornets, establishing himself as a first teamer at Spotland before making the move to Oldham for 2025. But with the big spending Roughyeds gambling on former Super League names, Forster was keen to make a move to continue his Rugby League development. And when the chance to return to The Shay under Kyle Eastmond arose, he snatched it with both hands.

“I’m buzzing to have signed for two years at such a great club”, said Forster. “Signing for 2 years gives me stability to hopefully work on my game and build some confidence playing consistent minutes. The opportunity to play at The Shay in front of the great fans is something I look forward to.”

“When I had a meeting with Kyle, I already had it in the back of my mind that Halifax was where I wanted to sign, so I didn’t need much convincing. The chat went really well, we are both Oldham lads so had plenty to talk about. He spoke a lot about the culture he is building at Halifax and because of his experience in the game, how much he and the rest of the coaching staff can develop me as a player. I think it’s clear how driven Kyle is to succeed and that’s something I want to be apart of.”

“I’ve grown a lot since my last spell with Halifax. I’ve worked with some good coaches meaning my knowledge of the game has improved, I’ve had 2 good years meaning I’m stronger and fitter. The way last year went has pushed me to work harder and be apart of a team playing consistent minutes. Halifax are building a strong team for the 26 season and I want to play a big role in their success.”

“The way Halifax ended the season last year excites me as it showed how much they can achieve. I believe Halifax will be up there again, come the end of the season and those are the games I want to be apart of.”
