SALTONSTALL RIDES AGAIN

Halifax Panthers are delighted to announce that James Saltonstall has signed a new one year contract extension with the club, keeping him at The Shay until the end of the 2025 Betfred Championship season.

Saltonstall joined the Panthers as a 21 year old during the winter of 2014, going on to provide a decade of service to his hometown club after making the move from the academy at Super League side Warrington Wolves.

Now at 31, he’s the longest serving member of the current squad, racking up an impressive 232 appearances and scoring 103 tries in the famous blue and white hoops. He was part of the side that lifted the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup in 2023 with a 12-10 Wembley win over Batley Bulldogs, his first silverware for the club.

2025 will be his eleventh season at The Shay, and his love for the club hasn’t waned over all those years.

“It’s an honour to have signed another year with my hometown club to take me into my 11th season playing for Halifax”, said Saltonstall. “Everyone knows I love the club and if I didn’t play for Halifax, I wouldn’t be playing anywhere else. I don’t know how much longer I’ve got left in the game so I’ll be giving it my all to ensure we have a better season this time around.”

“I’m looking forward to working under Kyle. I am sure he will bring some fresh ideas and a change in dynamic which I think will be positive for us. Kyle is someone new to the club and looking at the place with a fresh set of eyes so hopefully will help us improve and kick on.”
