GRIX REACTS TO OLDHAM DEFEAT

SIMON GRIX REACTS TO DEFEAT AT BOWER FOLD IN ROUND 4

“Extremely disappointing. The first half went ok with a significant improvement in our attitude towards defence. It was a good arm wrestle and we were on the better side of it.  Unfortunately, we came up with early set errors too often when in good field position.”

“The errors we make at times are cringeworthy, simple basic skill errors. Each error and penalty has an effect in that instant but a second and third order of effect follows. We rarely got beyond the half way line because of this. When we did get there we were rudderless and failed to ask many questions of Oldham’s defence and put them under any real pressure.”

“As for why it is happening, all of the above puts us in a position where we are frustrated and the team effort becomes individual effort trying to get us out of the hole we find ourselves in.”

“The mood was pretty low after the game as you would expect. Frustration the overriding feeling as we are better than we are showing. We have a great team here and 75% of our week has been great each week, we enjoy each others company and prepare well for the games. However, the reality is each of us are judged on what we do in the 25% everyone see’s, the most important part, and we need to start nailing it pretty quickly.”

“The focus lies firmly on getting our house in order in possession and getting desperate in defence. Motivation is not an issue, we have a lot to prove to one another never mind externally.”
