GEE TO DEPART PANTHERS AT END OF 2024

Halifax Panthers can confirm that Matty Gee will depart the club at the end of the 2024 Betfred Championship season to take up a contract with rivals Bradford Bulls.

The 29 year old back rower moved to The Shay from Super League side Leigh Leopards ahead of the 2022 season, and has enjoyed 3 solid years with the Panthers. He was part of the Fax side that lifted the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup at Wembley Stadium back in August 2023.

But now the Wigan born forward will leave the club at the end of the current season.

“I wanna thank all the players and staff that made me feel welcome and made it feel like home here”, said Gee. “We’ve had some great memories over the last three seasons and I’ve made mates for life. Lastly, I wanna thank the fax fans who I can say it’s been a honour to play for during the last three seasons. Now I want to focus on finishing this season on a high and finishing my time here on the right note.”

Panthers Head Coach Liam Finn commenting on the departure.

“We’re disappointed to be losing Matty”, said Finn. “We’ve enjoyed working with him and he’s been a great servant to the club but we couldn’t compete financially with what Bradford were offering so we wish him all the best for the future. We’re going to concentrate of ending his time with us in a positive way.”
