Halifax Panthers Wheelchair Rugby League Club are pleased to announce that England International Nathan Mullhall will be head coach for the 2022 season. He will be ably assisted by Irish International Tom Martin.

“I’m buzzing to takeover as head coach,” said Mullhall. “I’ve been an assistant for the last few years but we’ve had a turbulent time with covid and losing some important figures from the team so this is really a new era for us. We’ve got a great balance of experience and youthful potential.”

“After missing out on the grand final last season for the first time in years, we’ve got to get back to challenging for the major honours again and I’m excited to lead the team into the upcoming season. After being so dominant in the sport for years, I feel teams have started to write us off. So the main aim for me is to bring back the fear factor our team once had.”

Mullhall was a part of the England squad for this winter’s international series with France, and will be hoping his Panthers side can have a big year ahead of the 2022 World Cup on home soil.

Panthers Wheelchair Rugby League Club Treasurer and Founder Malcolm Kielty added: “These two young players have come through the clubs development program and have worked so hard to achieve what they have. It’s great to see they are giving back to the club.”
