Halifax Panthers are delighted to announce the signing of Lachlan Walmsley for the 2022 season.

Panthers fought off a number of Super League and Championship sides to secure the services of the winger, who has recently been selected to represent Scotland after an impressive year at Whitehaven which saw him score 15 tries and kick 71 goals on the way to amassing over 200 points for the Cumbrians.

The 22 year old Australian recenty won the Betfred Championship Entertainer of the Year award, thanks to some eye catching finishes and dazzling performances.

“I’m excited to join the panthers for 2022″ said Walsmley. “It’s a squad full of exciting players which can produce some quality rugby for the fans to enjoy.”

Lachlan worked his way through the ranks in the NRL with Newcastle Knights and South Sydney Rabbitohs but now finds himself part of a Halifax Panthers squad looking to build on a 2021 consisting of a third place finish in the table and a play-off semi-final.

And Head coach Simon Grix was happy to have his man on board for 2022.

“Lachlan has had a great year, backing himself to get over here with the ambition to play Super League.”

“He has been a standout performer this year, scoring tries out of nothing, showing X factor with some freakish finishes.”

“It’s a real coup to have got him over the line as some big clubs were circling. I look forward to aiding in his development and watching the competition for places bring out the best in him.”
