STROUD ON CLOUD NINE

Halifax RLFC are pleased to announce that Fraser Stroud has signed a new deal with the club ahead of the 2021 Betfred Championship campaign.

The young half back was a stand out performer in the clubs reserve grade system, showing natural ball skills and an eye for a gap.

He made his senior debut in the inaugural 1895 cup defeat to Sheffield Eagles, as Fax blooded new talent in the short week preceding a quarter final win at Odsal in June 2019.

But the autumn of 2020 will be a learning period for the 21-year old Welshman, as development and improvement appeared to be the theme of his coach’s words.

“Fraser has shown some promise in recent seasons and earned a crack at another pre season where his main focus is physical development. He is a natural ball player with a handy skill set. I am looking forward to helping him improve his understanding of the gam throughout pre season as he gets after the more senor players in his position”, said Simon Grix.

Stroud is in a fortunate position playing under such a versatile coach, who himself played a number of positions during a sterling Super League career, able to pass his wide knowledge of the game on to the young Welshman.

“I’m really happy to re-sign for the club”, said Stroud. “I’m excited to get back to it and dig into pre season. With the squad we are building, I’m excited for the year. I still have a lot to learn and a lot to improve on within my game. I’m looking forward to being back around the boys and getting back to it.”
