ON THIS DAY IN 1992, HALIFAX HAMMER DONCASTER IN THE CHALLENGE CUP

Halifax hosted Doncaster at Thrum Hall in the 2nd round of the Challenge Cup after previously beating Hull KR 12-8 in the first round.

The result was never in doubt with tries from John Fieldhouse (2), Greg Austin (2), Jimmy Irvine (2), Greg Pearce, Dave Watson, Adam Fogerty, Warren Wilson and Mark Preston helping Fax secure a thumping 66-8 win in front of 5,962 spectators taking the club into the third round and a home tie against Bradford Northern.

The 1991/92 season was dominated on the player front by Greg Austin and Mark preston who would finish the season with 33 tries and 27 tries respectively.

Greg Pearce went on to finish top points scorer for Fax in the 91/92 season with 182 points which included 5 tries and 81 goals for the club.

Notable signings that year included, Mark Preston (Wigan), Karl Harrison (Hull), Adam Fogerty (Unattached) and Greg Pearce (London Crusaders).
