JOUFFRET TO STAY AT THE SHAY

Halifax Panthers are ecstatic to announce the re-signing of half-back Louis Jouffret on a two year deal until the end of the 2024 season.

The 26 year old has made the stand-off jersey his own since joining the club from Whitehaven, chipping in with 8 tries, countless assists and earning plaudits from outside the club along the way, winning the Rugby League World Championship Player of the Month back in April.

His form has put him in contention for a coveted spot in the French squad for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup and after being selected in the squad for the mid season friendly against Wales, Jouffret is keen to replicate his club form on the International stage as well as help the Panthers secure a high playoff space and a chance at promotion.

“To be honest, I didn’t really think about going anywhere else,’ said Jouffret. “I’m just happy here. Things have started to click with Keyesy and Woody and I’m just happy with the way we’re playing, the way I am in the team, and where the team is going. I think we’re going upwards and I’m just happy with it and looking forward to the future.”

And Panthers coach Simon Grix was happy to see the French star commit to his side for the foreseeable future.

“Louis has been really good for us this year and we’re delighted to keep him with us. He’s got versatility and can play a number of positions but he’s also got that little bit of flair about him. And he’s got something that you just can’t buy with his speed, he’s absolutely rapid and causes defences a lot of trouble. And between him, Woody and Keyesy, they’ve developed a really nice combination between them and long may that continue.”
