JOUFFRET THE BLUE

Halifax Panthers are delighted to announce the signing of Louis Jouffret for the 2022 season.

Frenchman Jouffret joins the Panthers after starring for Whitehaven during their impressive playoff charge in 2021 and joins former Haven teammate Lachlan Walmsley in moving to West Yorkshire.

“I am really pleased to join the Panthers next season,” said Jouffret. “It’s a good team with some really great fans and I can’t wait to start playing at the Shay.”

The 26 year old half-back has bags of Championship experience, having enjoyed spells with Toulouse, Featherstone and Batley, which bodes well for Simon Grix’s options on a weekly basis ahead of a huge Betfred Championship campaign.

2022 will see Jouffret competing with fellow new signings Joe Keyes and Cory Aston for a starting half-back spot.

And Head Coach Simon Grix was happy to finally have his man secured for the upcoming season.

“Louis is a player I have followed for a while, having come through the academy at Warrington. I tried to tempt him here a couple of years ago without success, so I am happy his name came up late in the piece.”

“Louis is comfortable in a number of positions with a real feel for the flow of a game, where he has shown confidence to chance his arm this year with Whitehaven, for whom he was a real driver in their success. Competition for places is vital and Louis ticks a few boxes there.”
