Fax Trust is proud to announce club legend John Bentley as its first ever Ambassador.
Many Fax fans will remember John’s exploits during his two spells with the club back in the 90s. He managed an amazing 109 tries in 133 appearances, plus, according to the statistics, a single goal. His exploits brought him international honours for both England and Great Britain, and rugby union’s British Lions, making him one of a very select few players to have been capped in both codes.
Of course, statistics only tell half the story, and his sensational tackle busting length of the field tries have become the stuff of legend. He and wing partner Mark Preston struck fear into many a team’s defence during their time with Fax. Since retiring as a player, John has maintained his connections with the game; currently he is involved with Leeds Tykes, as well as being President of the rugby charity Wooden Spoon, which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children.
He is also well known as a hilarious after dinner speaker.
Here’s hoping that John’s involvement with the Trust will be a long and happy one!
