Curtis Davies Extends Fax Stay

Halifax RLFC are pleased to announce that Curtis Davies has signed a new deal with the club ahead of the 2021 Betfred Championship campaign.

The hooker has agreed terms to be a part of Simon Grix’s squad for another season.

The 23 year old hooker was selected in the Wales squad for the 2019 rugby league world cup 9s competition, winning 6 caps to date. But he isn’t resting on his laurels, and he prepares for the big year ahead.

“I’m looking forward to getting back amongst it with the boys, and making the most of a long pre season so when we do get back to the rugby, I’m able to kick on and make it a big year for myself. But yeah, mainly excited to see what the season brings.”

Davies joined the club through the reserve grade system, progressing to make his first team debut in a televised game against London Broncos in the 2018 Super 8s Qualifiers.

And the Welsh International will look to continue his development alongside current Halifax Star Man Brandon Moore, with fans hoping they become a dangerous hooking unit in the Fax squad.

Coach Simon Grix sang Davies’ praises on his exceptional work rate.

“Curtis is a pleasure to coach’ said Grix. “He strives to get better and puts a lot of time into his game, often first in and last out with his brother and very competitive in all areas. He has improved steadily over the last few years to where he is now physically ready and his understanding for the game and his role are improving. I expect him to be pushing every week for a spot in the 17.”
