CONTRACT CHAT | Nick Rawsthorne to Leave Panthers

Halifax, WEST YORKSHIRE — It is much sadness that Nick Rawsthorne will be leaving the Halifax Panthers at the end of the 2021 season. The decision was a combination of Rawsthorne receiving a promotion at work and injuries that have been hard to shake off.

Rawsthorne joined his hometown club from Super League side, Hull KR for the 2021 season and boasts a formidable try-scoring record in the Championship including 27 in 34 apps for Toronto Wolfpack.

Panthers Head Coach, Simon Grix  had this to say,

Another, totally out of the blue. Nick has stuttered through the year with a couple of niggles that haven’t helped his cause. He has shown great perseverance over the last few years whilst rehabilitating his injuries, this is a tough road I’ve been unfortunate to travel myself and it does undoubtedly take its toll. This has led to Nick to preparing for life after rugby. His “exit plan” if you like has been sped up by promotion at work and, although unfortunate and a loss to us and the game Nick is happy and that is all that matters. As with all who leave, Nick is always welcome at the Shay, we wish him all the best for his future.
