CONTRACT CHAT | Conor McGrath to Leave Panthers

Halifax, WEST YORKSHIRE — It is much sadness that Conor McGrath will be leaving the Halifax Panthers at the end of the 2021 season. The decision came about due to a scheduling conflict as McGrath has an opportunity to progress in his current job.

McGrath has certainly proven to be a valuable player. He scored a debut hattrick in a 54-0 demolition of Sheffield Eagles at Wakefield in 2017 and only last week, earned Man of The Match in the last regular-season game against Batley Bulldogs.

Panthers Head Coach, Simon Grix had nothing but positive things to say about the promising young player.

It came as a shock that Conor has come to the decision to call time on his playing days, particularly with his best years in front of him. He has been so dependable over the last few years and has been an absolute pleasure. His attitude has never wavered whether in or out of the team, which is a testament to him as a bloke. He, with a heavy heart, did the right thing by us in giving us ample notice. He has an opportunity to progress at work and our schedule no longer suits his. It’s unfortunate and I do hope he misses us and we get him back. I wish him nothing but the best for his future.
