CLUB UPDATE: MATCH DAY

Match Day Experience Update

After the performance of England on Saturday evening who would have thought that our game against Widnes at the Shay yesterday would exceed the excitement levels in Rome. What an afternoon – monsoon like conditions, kick-off delayed, a fantastic Panthers fight back and to top it off a last seconds drop goal from Liam Harris to secure the points. Simon’s squad were stretched yesterday with both injuries and players being unavailable, they stood up with a show of skill, fitness, commitment and togetherness, long may it continue.

The purpose of this communication is to update you on the current situation around game day and how we are working with CMBC to improve the matchday experience for all of our fans and also for visiting supporters. Yesterday we were able to offer more seats in the East Stand and also to provide catering vans in both the South and North Stands, unfortunately, we could not provide this in the East Stand due to social distancing issues, however, we did operate a pass system to allow East Stand users to travel into the South Stand area to purchase refreshments. For the Whitehaven game it has been agreed that we can operate our own limited (Beer, Lager, Cider,) Bar behind the South Stand with East Stand patrons again being able to access this through the pass system, so come along early and have a drink before kick-off, the catering van will still be in place.

We have been fortunate as a club in past seasons to have the IFT Banqueting Suite to entertain our supporters, sponsors and visiting directors prior to games. It will come as no surprise to you that this facility has not been available for a considerable time, however, CMBC are happy that we can now begin to plan for re-opening this facility with the appropriate regulations at that time being in place. We hoped to use the Whitehaven game as a trial event but unfortunately there is just too much to get in place for this week. We are intending that for the Bradford Bulls game on August 1st we will be able to use the Banqueting Suite, we are already experiencing requests for tables. This game will hopefully give the opportunity for The Panthers to further move on both off and on the field, more details to follow on our plans for this game both outside and inside the Stadium.

Thank you all for your support both home and away this season, yesterday was a great example of how you help the team when the going gets tough, I’m not sure what was beating fastest, the drummer or my heart!

Best wishes
