Halifax Panthers are thrilled to announce the appointment of Damian Clayton MBE as our new Chief Executive Officer.
Given the changing landscape of rugby league and the IMG re-imagine initiative, the way our sport is run and more importantly our club, is now front and centre game wide.
The Board has been diligently evaluating where the club is at, substantiated by our recent IMG illustrative grading which reflected our position. The Board recognise that there is plenty of work to do both on and off the field, and the recruitment of a CEO is one of our first steps in rising to that challenge.
Having somebody of Damian’s knowledge and experience within the game and more importantly understanding the DNA of the club through his close involvement with our performance operations, is a strength that cannot be underestimated. His extensive 36-year tenure in the Royal Air Force and notable prominence in the sport through this service add a level of expertise and distinction that we are proud to have on board.
The Board feel Damian is the right person to take the Club to the next level and lead the way in all aspects of how the Club is run on a day to day basis.
Damian Clayton MBE shared: “I am deeply honoured to join the Halifax Panthers as their Chief Executive Officer. This appointment is not just a role but an overt demonstration by the Board to help elevate the club to new heights. Having been associated with the performance side for many years, I have a profound connection and understanding of the club’s culture and values. I am eager to apply my considerable operational, strategic and administrative military experience and exploit my broad rugby league network to ensure we excel both on and off the field.”
“My commitment to the Halifax Panthers is such that I am leaving the Royal Air Force 5 years earlier than planned and is a decision that I haven’t taken lightly. I am excited at the prospect of what the Board, staff and whole Halifax Panthers family can achieve together – bring it on!”
Chairman Dave Grayson commented: “Damian’s appointment is a real coup for the Club. I regard his appointment as being our marquee signing off the field. He joins us with an impressive CV which has seen him most recently inducted as the newest member of the Rugby Football League Roll of Honour, further supplementing his appointment as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2002, recognition of his unrelenting service to Armed Forces Rugby League.”
“Throughout his illustrious career, he has consistently raised the bar, and we are confident he will bring the same level of excellence to the Halifax Panthers.”
