CAPTAIN MOORE TO LEAD THE FAX AGAIN

Halifax Panthers are delighted to announce the re-signing of Captain Brandon Moore till the end of the 2024 season. The Cumbrian hooker has signed a 2 year contract extension at The Shay ahead of the clubs 150th anniversary year.

“Pudge” has been the major success story of the club’s Reserve grade system which saw him progress to break into the first team in 2016, and has been constant performer for the Panthers ever since. The 26 year old is widely regarded as one of the best 9s in the Championship. A model of consistency, bravery and leadership having been Captain of Halifax since the start of the 2021 season, where he was also named ‘Star Man’.

In 2022, Brandon reached a special milestone of 150 games for Halifax and his extension puts him in sight of the big 200 game landmark. A cornerstone of the Panthers pack, his coach was delighted to have a major building block in place for the future.

“I think we’ve been building our team around Brandon for a while now”, said Fax boss Simon Grix. “I’m really happy to have him on board again. I think we’ve seen this year, he as he played 26 of the 27 fixtures, once again playing the season under circumstances where at times he probably shouldn’t have been playing. But he’s one of those guys, he’s disgusted if he has to miss a bit of training never mind miss a game.”

“He’s been really good for us, consistent in performance and as a captain, he has got better verbally. When he speaks, people listen but moreover, his actions speak louder than any words could. He’s consistently doing the effort stuff week in week out and putting other people to shame at times, and that’s his best quality – his commitment and consistency in his actions. So we’re really happy to get that deal done.”

“I think he’s been a good Ying to Woody’s (Kyle Wood) Yang this year. They’ve worked quite nicely together at times and he’s taken the lions share. And he’s probably deserved it to be fair to him so I think there’s a challenge there to make sure that he pushes some more minutes in next year and along with Tom Inman, we’ll have some quality there at nine.”
